How can you make a first Good Impression?
Before jumping into strategies and techniques, it’s important to make a great impression. How do your clients perceive you? Strong? Under-prepared? Does your natural inquisitiveness come across as aggressive? It’s something to think about. Whether you are meeting new clients or trying to cross-sell to your existing clients, good impressions go a long way. Your likability and authenticity will impact your sales, so you’ll want to be conscious of that.
Do This Before You Meet Your Next Client! Making a Good Impression
Greet With a Smile
A friendly smile would lighten up your client’s mood. Show excitement of being there, make them believe that their interests are now your interests and that you would love to take their company to another level.
Dress Professionally
Formals or semi-formals will make the client believe that you are equally serious about the project. What would it look like if they’re dressed in formals and you’re dressing in casuals? Keep in mind that no matter how amazing your ideas are pitched, clothes can throw someone off – it’s a sad reality.
A Good Small Talk
No need to rush immediately to talk business. It’s always good to ask them how their day was, where are they from, where did they get such an amazing business idea from, etc! There are many ways to start a conversation – be light!
Offer Something
If a client comes to your office, make sure you offer them beverages and snacks. This gesture may seem small but it has a great impact on building your relationship with the client. You could also offer to shut the AC if they’re feeling cold – look for an opportunity to show kindness!
An Assertive Handshake
Firm handshakes are a must. This says that you are confident in yourself. Body languages speak more about you as silence is also a way of communication. Put forth your hand first and make sure to not grip it so tight that you hear bones cracking. It’s a great path to start making a great impression.
Answering Questions
Don’t look clueless when a client asks you questions. Sure, you might not know the answer. So instead of saying, ‘I’m not sure,’ you can rather say, ‘I will look into it and get back to you immediately.’ Never deny a question, make yourself sound confident enough.
Research About Their Company
Would you market a UAE-based company in South America? You wouldn’t! It’s important to know the company, its products or services, and its background before meeting them. You wouldn’t want to pitch unnecessary ideas to them on the first meet, would you?
Be Prepared
Did you have similar clients before? Did you help clients that have a similar interest? Show your work to them! They would surely like to see previous results. Start with, ‘Here’s something we did for another client and these were the results.’ And now you’re authentic to them! Go to them with endless Marketing Tips!
